For Federico: kitchen worktop and the floor with the same material

Cover Image: The Designer Responds - Steel household appliances, what to match with them?

Good evening! Hoping that my question will be chosen from the ones you receive: I would like to do the kitchen worktop and the floor with the same material. Is it feasible? Would you recommend it as a solution of continuity? The place is very bright, the kitchen has a very large French window overlooking the garden, which makes it a point of passage. We should also take into account the fact that the children (and the dog) can bring in mud, and dirt… What would you recommend about this? Thanks, Federico.

Good morning Mr. Federico, as you can see, we have chosen his own question, not just by chance but this allows us to be able to give suggestions and indications in the design of an environment that is still without flooring and therefore is nearing completion. With the materials available today, we talk about ceramic slabs, Stone, large format Quartz and then industrially created materials, we enter into an incredible world. This type of synthetic materials has structural characteristics, of resistance, of abrasion, of impermeability, of exceptional workability, as well as an incredible aesthetic and beauty of surface. In an environment like his, very bright and spacious, creating a project in which the same material is on the floor, in the fronts of the furniture, and in the worktop, is of a unique refinement. What I recommend to you and to many people who are in a phase of selection of the materials, both for the completion of the house and then for the furnishing part, is to combine the two things and develop a synergistic project dictated by the strength of the environment and designed for the inclusion of furniture by combining and mixing the same materials. In summary, creating an environment where the same material contaminates more elements as described above represents a strong, well-determined and bold choice. The size of these materials then makes the difference, where, with these large formats, you have very few grout lines on the floor and with juxtaposed slabs you don’t really see them; in the kitchen you make plans for large islands and peninsulas, tables, having a whole and unique piece, in the fronts of the furniture you can get any size you like, creating a custom project dedicated to your environment. As regards the cleaning, it is rare to find better materials because these have exceptional characteristics and can be cleaned very easily. Thanks for the question.
