Today we will talk about the tops made of DEKTON®.
Attention: the publication of this article and of the following ones mirrors the alphabetic order of materials discussed.
DEKTON® TOPS
DEKTON® by Cosentino is a super compact surface made of a mixture of raw materials that reacts when exposed to high temperatures to obtain a top with unique technical and aesthetic features. DEKTON® relies on the exclusive Sinterized Particle technology, a process providing for an accelerated metamorphic change that natural stone suffers when it undergoes high temperatures and pressures for thousands of years. DEKTON® does not contain resins or organic additives. Thanks to the non porosity and ultra compact surface DEKTON® by Cosentino is highly resistant to occasional spots typical of the domestic use as well as to chemical agents as it is an optimal choice for kitchen and working top as well.
Now we describe the main characteristics of this material.
- UV rays resistance It is highly resistant to ultraviolets rays (UV), the color does not fade nor lose intensity over time. This characteristic makes it the fittest product for interior and exterior design too.
- Fire and heath resistance. Maximum resistance to high temperatures. Hot pots and utensils, appliances and also slow cooking pots can be put in direct contact with the surface without any risk of damaging it.
- Chromatic properties: Since there are no organic pigments, colors do not suffer any alteration even though they undergo variations of climate conditions.
- Scratch resistance. The surface is highly resistant to scratches and it is not afraid of incisions caused by domestic use utensils. We still recommend to use chopping boards to protect the top.
- Abrasion and use resistance: It is more resistant to abrasions than granite and this makes it the perfect surface for any type of commercial use.
- Frost resistance Its natural freeze-thaw resistance makes it perfect also for areas characterized by extreme temperatures.
- Stain Resistance It cannot be affected by stains caused by the domestic use nor caused by chemical agents. The strongest stains such as wine, coffee, rust and enamel can be easily removed from the surface.
WHAT DOES RUIN THE DEKTON® SURFACE AND WHAT CAN BE USED TO CLEAN IT
Do not put it in contact with hydrochloric acid (HF), do not polish, do not use metal scrub pads. For the daily cleaning of DEKTON®, we recommend to use a neutral detergent. Apply the product on the surface with a soft cloth. Thoroughly rinse with a humid, clean and in good condition sponge (better a microfiber cloth). For polished finishing colors, after the cleaning we recommend to dry the surface with kitchen roll or a clean cotton cloth. Even though DEKTON® offers a high resistance to chemical and aggressive products such as bleach, acids etc., we recommend to put great care in using these products and to minimize their contact time with the surface.
TREATMENTS FOR DEKTON® TOP SURFACES
Among the two DEKTON® finishes, the satin finish usually does not have any reaction to the normal house products, as staining it is almost impossible. The polished finish too is highly resistant to stains, yet it can get stained after a contact with substances with a strong coloring power, highly aggressive or glue residuals when they are left on the surface for more than 24 hours. In these cases, we recommend to use more specific products such as creamy detergents with abrasive particles or solvents (such as acetone or universal solvent).
In addition to the above, we suggest to request Cosentino Group to supply “Q-Action” or “Q-Force”, which are specific detergents for the cleaning and maintenance of the top produced with Consentino brand materials.
