Kitchen Countertops: Integrated Sinks and Accessories

In the first article of our column, we talk about sinks integrated with worktops and related accessories.

The synthetic technical materials, industrially produced – which are now often used both in architecture and by interior designers – started to accompany the eternal marbles, granites and stones that we find in nature. We can state that their use has always found application within the world of kitchens, and bathrooms, but also furnishings. Extraordinary materials that, processed with professionalism and competence, give incredible solutions, from an aesthetic point of view but above all from a functional point of view. Reason why we fully-fledged introduce today’s topic: Integrated sinks and their accessories.

With INTEGRATED SINKS we define the whole series of tanks, drips, slides, and attached accessories, which define the washing area of the worktops; be they in kitchens, bathrooms and other possible technical areas. The main feature of an “INTEGRATED” washing area is its maximum flexibility in customization, in terms of size, depth and design are created on the specific project of the designer who adapts it to the final needs of his customer. It is clearly necessary to take account of the typology of the underlying bases, the drains and the possible household appliances that can be inserted and combined – as for example the dishwasher – in addition to the characteristics of the material itself. No one forbids the inclusion of three tanks in a washing area, or a single large one, a deeper one and a less deep one, a particular drainer combined with a tub, all elements that characterize the final product, leaving the designer with the absolute freedom. Using the same technical material, such as granites and quartzes, they can be created by machining in machining centres and then super-resistant bonding.

These materials have exceptional sealing, absorption and resistance characteristics.

To date, the market offers mainly standard forms, we at Masutti Marmi e Graniti have analyzed in depth the needs of the user, in specific work areas, we have confronted in order to create a production system suitable to respond to these needs. A very appreciated project combined with INTEGRATED sinks is the realization of accessories – in this case of CUTTING BOARDS – in synthetic materials supported by a sliding plate of Teflon; sink tanks are made in which at the top are obtained spaces of placement for these cutting boards, which by sliding to the right or to the left can hide or at the time of use make the sink basins visible. They can therefore hide crockery housed inside the tanks, masking a temporary mess in the kitchen, once they are closed the supporting surfaces of the worktop are increased since they can be used as cutting boards, finally and last but not least they give a great aesthetic touch of great emotional impact.
